3.  What is a Molded Platform?

A Molded Platform is a roof-mounted, fiberglass, combination Fridgescoop and platform designed for  medium duty, refrigerated box trucks that enables safe access for technicians to stand on while  servicing the body-mounted cooling units.

The metal roof mounted truck platforms whistle, rust, damage roof mounts,  and cause air turbulence.  The Fuelscoop Molded Platform eliminates all these problems and has a front air deflector to reduce fuel consumption.

4.  Why should I install this product?

Over thirty years of product history has consistently demonstrated average fuel savings of between 10% and 15% once these products are installed.

Due to the specific design of Fuelscoop & Fridgescoop, with their improved aerodynamics, safety is substantially improved due to better vehicle stability.  In addition, the reduced drag created by these products consistently lowered transmission repairs further reducing operating costs and TCO.

6.  What is TCO?

Total Cost of Ownership encompasses ALL costs involved throughout the life of an asset, including, but not limited to, acquisition. 

Fuel is the largest non-labor, non-capital cost associated with fleet management. 

By way of example; a typical medium duty truck life expectancy is now 10 years and 350,000 miles.  The installation of a Fuelscoop will reduce TCO by at least $10,000 – $20,000, based on fuel prices.

7.  How do I determine my potential gas Savings?

8.  Are your products made in different heights?

We do produce different height FuelScoops to accommodate a variety of chassis and body manufacturers.

9.  Are they easily installed?

Any qualified mechanic should easily be able to install each of our products in about one hour.  They either bolt to existing factory anchor points or bond directly to the cab roof.  The assembly and installation methods can be view on the Aeroz America YouTube channel accessible via this link.

11.  How much can I expect to reduce my fuel costs?

This depends on your application; savings in excess of ten percent are normal, with many clients exceeding twenty percent.

12.  What factors can impact on my fuel savings?

The following are a few variables that will increase or decrease your fuel savings:

  1. Non-stop highway trips result in optimal fuel savings; regardless if they are 50 miles or 500 miles in duration
  2. In-town driving with frequent stops and starts reduce fuel savings
  3. Empty or lightly loaded truck uses less fuel than the same fully loaded truck
  4. Driving with a strong tailwind uses less fuel than driving into a headwind
  5. The driving style of the operator can improve fuel savings
  6. Dimensions of the truck body
  7. Road conditions and topography
  8. Our products all significantly reduce wind drag, effectively adding power to the truck. Often drivers will use this new-found power to drive faster which increases fuel consumption.

13.  I know I need an aerodynamic product – should I buy a  Fuelscoop or NoseCone?

In almost every circumstance a Fuelscoop is superior, whether judged in terms of fuel savings, performance, safety via improved vehicle stability or even Brand exposure.  NoseCone is a less sophisticated option that does not produce the TCO savings associated with a Fuelscoop.

The addition of a roof-mounted Fuelscoop to a truck with a NoseCone will improve the performance of the NoseCone by ensuring that the underside of the cone is unable to deflect the airflow down behind the truck cab.

14.  I already have a NoseCone installed.  What difference will the Fuelscoop make?

Based on an extensive list of client testimonials, our expectation is that even when a NoseCone is already installed, additional fuels savings of ten percent and greater is a conservative expectation. 

In some conventional ‘straight truck’ applications both cannot be fitted at the same time.  The superior aerodynamic and cost saving benefits of the Fuelscoop justifies replacing the NoseCone.

15.  I cannot afford to have my truck off the road – how reliable is Fuelscoop?

The current design has been in use since 2005.  We have never had a failure causing any damage to the truck or Fuelscoop.  Once a Fuelscoop is installed correctly,  it can be fitted and forgotten (it outlasts the life of the truck).

16.  What’s the life expectancy of the products?

We have multiple examples of products installed more than twenty years ago that are still in service.  It’s impossible for them to “wear out” so they will always outlast the truck.

18.  Are your products only effective on long-haul trucks & long trips?

Independent wind tunnel testing conducted at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology has determined that our FuelScoop products are effective at speeds starting as low as twenty miles per hour.  Essentially, any time the truck is mobile our products are reducing drag and improving fuel consumption.  Regardless of whether a five-hundred-mile journey is made up of a single trip or ten legs of fifty miles each; the accumulated savings will be very similar.

Most of our customers are intrastate, short haul drivers and they form the majority basis of our average fuel savings of ten-to-fifteen percent.  If we based our calculations on long haul fleets alone, the average would be higher.
